Eagles Close Out Regular Season at Home

July 15, 2016 | by: Evan Stewart

CHARLOTTE, NC – The Eagles intend on finishing out the 2016 regular season with one more win on July 16th. After defeating the SC United Bantams and Tormenta FC on the road last week, the Eagles now return home to face the Tri-Cities Otters.

The Eagles picked up five goals against SC United while only allowing one goal. Santi Moar led the team with two goals and an assist. The other three goals were scored by Jaime Siaj, Jonny Denton and Kelvin Omondi.

Santi Moar picked up another goal against Tormenta, bringing his total for the season up to six and making him the team’s leading scorer. Kelvin Omondi followed Moar’s goal with two of his own, bringing the final score to 3-0, a triumphant victory for the Eagles after losing to the Tormenta earlier in the season.

With these two wins, Charlotte’s first place standing in the South Atlantic division is stronger than ever. The Eagles also lead their conference in goal differential by a healthy margin. To date, the team has scored thirty goals while allowing only eight. The closest competition is the Carolina Dynamo, who are ranked just behind the Eagles in wins but have a goal differential of thirteen (twenty goals scored, 7 seven allowed.)

Meanwhile, the Tri-Cities Otters are ranked last in the South Atlantic division with one win, nine losses and three ties. The Eagles previously defeated the Otters 3-0 back in June. A win or draw on Saturday against the Otters will guarantee the division title for the Eagles and the top spot in the Eastern Conference.

If Charlotte can earn a point on Saturday, they will earn a bye into the Eastern Conference Semifinals. They will then wait for the Play-In games, taking place on July 19th, to find out who their opponents will be.

Saturday will also be Habitat for Humanity Charlotte Night at the game. Habitat staff will be on hand to distribute information on how people can get involved around the Charlotte area. They will also bring supplies for game attendees to help build window frames that will be used in a Habitat house in the area. More information will be available at the Habitat tent at Saturday’s game.

Charlotte Eagles Campers will also be invited to come out for “Camper Appreciation Night” on Saturday. The first 100 campers who wear their 2016 Camp T-shirt will be given a free ice cream sandwich! Come out to get your free ice cream sandwich and to meet your favorite camp coaches at the game!

Kickoff will be at 7PM at Charlotte Christian School. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Charlotte Eagles office (704-841-8644) or online at charlotteeagles.ticketleap.com. Tickets will also be available for purchase the day of the game at Charlotte Christian School.
